The Meat Course


The course cost is £270 pp or £255 pp for two people booking together. Inclusive in the price we offer two nights of accommodation and meals from Saturday breakfast to Sunday evening meal. Please be aware that accommodation is within the family home and rooms will be offered on a first come first served basis. Up to five double rooms are available. If you wish to stay elsewhere or pitch a tent on the farm with full use of facilities we offer a discount of £50 on the price of the course.

We have designed our 2-day Meat Course to follow in a supportive and open way the whole process of producing meat from the farm to the table, including slaughter. We organise the course for small groups (maximum of eight) to ensure that all delegates have the chance to participate fully. There are opportunities to engage with six different species of meat animal (cattle, goats, pigs, sheep, chickens, rabbits), to witness the humane slaughter of a sheep, to watch a master butcher at work and to practise some butchery techniques. There is no compulsion to do any of these activities should you decide at the time that you would prefer not to. At the end of the course we cook and eat together and there are opportunities throughout both days for reflection and discussion about each aspect of the process.

After attending the course we hope you will be able to eat better, shop better, think better about all aspects of meat and that your choices are informed by knowledge, insight and experience.
